Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you want to know about Nexun VPN — from privacy to technology, from subscriptions to troubleshooting.
A VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a secure tunnel between your device and the internet. All data you send and receive is encrypted, so nobody — not your ISP, not hackers on public Wi-Fi, not ad networks — can see what you do online. Nexun VPN also hides your IP address, so websites only see our server's IP instead of your real location. This is essential on public Wi-Fi in cafés, hotels and airports, but a VPN also protects your privacy at home.
Nexun VPN is built on three pillars: speed, privacy and simplicity. We use only WireGuard — the most modern and fastest VPN protocol available. Our Privacy Logging approach puts you in full control: logs are stored locally on your device only, never on our servers. You decide if and when to share them — for example when submitting a support ticket. No large corporate conglomerates behind us, no selling your data to advertisers. Our subscriptions start from just €2.49/month — fairly priced with no hidden fees.
Nexun VPN is currently available for Android (6.0 and above) via the Google Play Store and for Windows 10/11 as a desktop app. Support for iOS and macOS is high on our roadmap. Each user can connect multiple devices simultaneously — the exact number depends on your subscription (1 device for Budget, up to 20 devices for Family).
This depends on your subscription. The Budget plan supports 1 device at a time. The Duo plan supports 2 shared accounts. The Pro plan offers full personal protection with maximum devices. The Family plan gives you 6 full accounts (you + 5 invited people) and supports up to 20 simultaneous device connections in total. Each account has its own login and settings.
Yes, every VPN has some impact on speed — but with WireGuard this is minimal. WireGuard uses less CPU overhead than older protocols like OpenVPN or L2TP, meaning you'll barely notice speed loss on a good internet connection. Our servers are optimized for high throughput. On slow networks (under 10 Mbit/s) the encryption overhead may be more noticeable.
Yes. Nexun VPN offers a free trial period so you can test the full functionality without a credit card. After the trial you can choose a paid subscription starting from €2.49/month. There is no automatic renewal without your consent.
Privacy Logging means you own your logs — always. Any logs generated by the app are stored locally on your device only, never on Nexun servers. You can view, clear, or export them at any time directly from the app. If you ever contact support, you decide whether to share your logs as part of the ticket. Nexun never has access to your logs unless you explicitly choose to share them. Your online activity stays yours.
We store as little as possible on our servers. Specifically: your email address (needed for your account and password recovery), your subscription status and payment history (without card details — that is handled by our payment provider), and anonymous server statistics (total traffic per server, no individual users). No activity logs are stored on our servers — any logs exist only locally on your device, under your full control.
Nexun B.V. is a Dutch company and therefore falls under European Union law, including the GDPR. The EU has strict privacy laws that are well above average. The Netherlands is not a member of the 5-Eyes, 9-Eyes or 14-Eyes intelligence alliances.
All logs are stored locally on your device and never on our servers, so we have nothing to hand over — even if we wanted to. If we receive a legal request that complies with EU law, we can at most provide the account data we possess: your email address and subscription information. Connection history or online activities can never be provided because that data does not exist on our end.
Nexun VPN significantly maximizes your online privacy, but complete anonymity requires additional measures. For maximum privacy we recommend: use an anonymous email address when registering, pay with a privacy-friendly payment method, and combine Nexun VPN with a privacy-focused browser such as Firefox with uBlock Origin. The VPN connection itself keeps no logs.
WireGuard is a modern VPN protocol included in the Linux kernel in 2019. It has a codebase of only ~4,000 lines (compared to ~100,000 for OpenVPN), meaning there is a much smaller attack surface for security vulnerabilities. WireGuard uses modern cryptographic primitives: ChaCha20 for symmetric encryption, Poly1305 for authentication, Curve25519 for key exchange and BLAKE2s for hashing. The result: faster connections, lower battery usage and stronger security.
Nexun VPN uses WireGuard's encryption stack: ChaCha20-Poly1305 for packet encryption (256-bit effective key strength), Curve25519 for Diffie-Hellman key exchange (Perfect Forward Secrecy), and BLAKE2s for cryptographic hashing. Perfect Forward Secrecy means that if a key is ever compromised, previous sessions cannot be decrypted.
Yes. The kill switch automatically blocks all your internet traffic if the VPN connection unexpectedly drops. Without a kill switch, your real IP address could temporarily become visible. With the kill switch active, no data leak is possible during a connection interruption. You can enable or disable the kill switch in the app settings.
Yes. Nexun VPN routes all your DNS queries through our own DNS resolver on our servers — not via your ISP's. This prevents DNS leaks where your provider could see which domains you visit despite the VPN connection. You can test your DNS protection using tools like dnsleaktest.com while connected.
Nexun VPN continuously expands its server network. You can view the current list of available locations in the app. We focus on quality over quantity: well-configured servers with high availability and low latency, rather than hundreds of poorly maintained servers. European and international locations are available.
Try the following steps in order: (1) Check that you have an active internet connection without VPN. (2) Fully restart the Nexun app. (3) Temporarily disable other VPN apps or firewalls — they can conflict. (4) Try a different server location. (5) Make sure the app is up to date via the Google Play Store or via our download page. (6) Restart your device. If the problem persists, create a support ticket with your device and OS version.
For Android subscriptions, payments go through Google Play, which supports credit cards, debit cards and Google Pay. For web subscriptions (via nexun.io) we accept credit and debit cards through our payment provider. More payment methods will be added soon.
You can cancel at any time, without notice period or penalties. For Android subscriptions: go to Google Play → Subscriptions → Nexun VPN → Cancel. For web subscriptions: log in to your account at nexun.io/account and choose 'Cancel subscription'. You retain access until the end of the current billing period.
We offer a satisfaction guarantee. If you are not satisfied, contact our support team within the first 7 days after your sign-up. We review each request individually and aim for a fair solution. For Google Play purchases, Google's refund rules also apply.
The Family plan gives you 6 full accounts: your own account plus 5 additional accounts that you invite (via email address). Each invited person gets their own login, own password and full use of the VPN. As the administrator you can remove members at any time and invite new people. The total number of simultaneous VPN connections is 20 for the whole family.
Yes. Upgrades are immediately active — you pay a pro-rata top-up for the remaining term. Downgrades take effect from the next billing period. Contact support if you need help with a subscription change.
Go to nexun.io/account and click 'Forgot password'. You will receive a reset link at your registered email address. Also check your spam folder if you don't receive the email. The reset link is valid for 24 hours. If you also no longer have access to your email, contact support.
Contact our support team to change your email address. We will verify your identity and process the change securely. Include your current email address and desired new email address in your support ticket.
You can permanently delete your account at nexun.io/delete. After confirmation, all your personal data will be erased, active subscriptions cancelled and VPN connections disconnected. This process is completely irreversible. If you have an active paid subscription, we advise cancelling it first via your payment method.
Sharing a single-user account (Budget or Pro) is not permitted and may result in suspension. If you want to share VPN access, we recommend the Duo or Family subscription, which is specifically designed for multiple users. Each account has its own login credentials, which is also strongly preferable from a security perspective.
